I traveled to the Thassos island twice until now. It’s a small and quiet island, an ideal place for a relaxing holiday, which I gladly recommend to everyone.

Of course to get to the island you need to take the ferryboat from the continent if not traveling by plane. Well, every time I was on the ferry heading to the island and back I noticed an interesting phenomena: the seagulls were following the ship all the way to the destination. The birds were flying around in large numbers while the passengers kept feeding them with bread crumbs.
I wondered how come this happens? I think this is because seagulls are intelligent birds and they got used to be fed by people traveling by ferry (or yacht!). And whenever they spot a ferry they know that they’ll get their food! Besides the distance from continent to the island is small (only half an hour with the ferry).
Either way it is worth seeing it. Enjoy…and keep some food for the lovely gulls!
